{"id":7005,"date":"2025-05-18T16:33:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-18T21:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scpronet.com\/wordpress\/?p=7005"},"modified":"2025-05-18T16:35:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-18T21:35:10","slug":"briggs-before-and-beyond-brown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scpronet.com\/wordpress\/2025\/05\/18\/briggs-before-and-beyond-brown\/","title":{"rendered":"Briggs Before and Beyond Brown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_f_OYwdcXeo?si=CVLjJHdWX_kKjmye\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n<p>On May 17, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cecilwilliams.com\/visit-tour\">SC Civil Rights Museum<\/a> in Orangeburg hosted a program to explore <em>Briggs v Elliott<\/em>&#8216;s role \u2014 and historical snub \u2014 in the landmark <em>Brown v Board<\/em> case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>USC&#8217;s<strong> Dr. Bobby Donaldson<\/strong> moderated the panel: <strong>Cecil Williams<\/strong>, noted photographer and force behind the museum, and civil rights activist <strong>Nathaniel Briggs<\/strong>, a descendant of <strong>Harry Briggs Sr. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the program, attendees loaded a bus for a tour of the museum&#8217;s new building now under construction.
